Clark County Administrative Hearing Officer Recruitment  (Part-Time)

The Clark County Departments of Administrative Services and Business License are seeking individuals to serve as Administrative Hearing Officers.  Preference will be given to persons experienced in administrative law, arbitration, or dispute resolution.  Applicants must be residents of Nevada and shall not be employees of the State of Nevada or any other political subdivision of the state.  Compensation is $70.00 per hour for hearing and preparatory time only, in accordance with Clark County Code 2.68.060.  Hearing Officers are required to provide a W-9 form to the department prior to commencement of services.

Qualifications include graduation from of an accredited law school or an accredited four-year college with at least five (5) years of experience in public administration; and have completed a four-hour course of classroom instruction in administrative law provided by the Office of District Attorney prior to conducting administrative hearings. Duties include hearing cases of alleged violations of Clark County municipal codes.  Applications will only be accepted on the form provided, which may be obtained on Department of Administrative Services’ Website in the Announcement section at: https://www.clarkcountynv.gov/administrative-services/Pages/default.aspx or by contacting (702) 455-4191.

Clark County Department of Human Resources invites applications for the position of Court Hearing Master for Las Vegas Justice Court (Exam Number: 17431). The Hearing Master will primarily be responsible for managing the Initial Appearance weekend calendar and Traffic court by reviewing pleadings, conducting hearings, ruling upon motions, and making judgments/orders. The Hearing Master may also be assigned other collateral duties including but not limited to, presiding over a traffic trial or related proceedings for one or more misdemeanor traffic offenses civil actions, small claims actions, actions for the issuance of a temporary or extended order for protection, summary eviction actions, landlord/tenant actions, making probable cause arrest determinations, release decisions, bail settings, and the imposition of conditions as needed for arrestees. The Hearing Master will report directly to the Chief Judge. This examination will establish an Open Competitive and Promotional list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by the Office of Human Resources.
