LVMC Alternate Judge Applications Due December 8, 2018

The Las Vegas Municipal Court is seeking attorneys in good standing who are interested in serving as alternate judges on an as-needed basis to preside over various criminal and traffic matters when the Municipal Court Judges are unavailable.

If an applicant is chosen to serve as an alternate judge, that applicant may not appear as counsel in any case in the Las Vegas Municipal Court during his or her term of service.

Attorneys who are interested in serving as alternate judges must submit a letter of interest and resume no later than 5:00 p.m. on December 8, 2018, to Cari Viado, administrative secretary.  Submissions may be sent by email to cviado@lasvegasnevada.gov or by fax to (702) 385-5510.

By submitting to the application process, the applicant agrees that the court may conduct a criminal background check as well as a bar status check with the State Bar of Nevada. Alternate judges must meet the qualifications set forth in Sec. 4.020 of the Las Vegas City Charter, including residing within the boundaries of the City of Las Vegas for a period of not less than 30 days.
