LVJC Court Order in re Temp. Procedures in Criminal Cases

On March 19, 2020, Chief Justice of the Peace Suzan Baucum signed an administrative matter regarding temporary procedures in criminal cases in the Las Vegas Justice Court. The order cites to the COVID-I9 virus and concerns it presents to public health. See LVJC-AO-20-05 (PDF file to download).

From Administrative Order 20-05, the court orders the following temporary changes to be implemented on Friday, March 20, 2020:

  1. As noted in Administrative Order 20-03, all criminal in-custody hearings, with the exception of in-custody preliminary hearings and in-custody trials, will be conducted via video conferencing in Courtroom 6A. To merge all departments into one location, the following schedule will be used for matters scheduled on the in-custody arraignment dockets of each department:

      3                           11am-12pm
      10                          12pm-lpm
      14                          1pm-2pm
      2                           2pm-3pm

      1 & 15                  4pm-done
  1. All remaining matters for Departments 1 and 15, with the exception of in-custody matters on the arraignment docket, will be moved to courtroom 7A.
  2. All remaining matters for Departments 2 and 7, with the exception of in-custody matters on the arraignment docket, will be moved to courtroom 8B.
  3. All remaining matters for Departments 3 and 8, with the exception of in-custody matters on the arraignment docket, will be moved to courtroom 1B.
  4. All remaining matters for Departments 10 and 14, with the exception of in-custody matters on the arraignment docket, will be moved to courtroom 8C.
  5. All remaining matters for Departments 11 and 12, with the exception of in-custody matters on the arraignment docket, will be moved to courtroom 7C.
  6. All remaining matters for Department 13, with the exception of in-custody matters on the arraignment docket, will be moved to Courtroom 1A.
  7. All matters in Initial Appearance Court will continue to be handled by Department 9 in Lower-Level Courtroom B.

The court order will be reviewed no later than every 30 days and shall continue until modified or rescinded by a subsequent order.
