Clark County Court Orders Case Reassignments, Track Changes (Eff. July 2, 2018)

On June 19, 2018, the Eighth Judicial District Court filed two administrative orders – Administrative Order 18-04 (AO 18-04) and Administrative Order 18-05 (AO 18-05). Both orders cite several changes to be made per Rule 1.30(b) of the Rules of Practice for the Eighth Judicial District Court (EDCR) and are ordered effective July 2, 2018. See below for more information and highlights from AO 18-04 and AO 18-05:

Highlights from AO 18-04 include the following changes:

  • Department 1’s entire criminal docket shall be reassigned to Department 28, and Department 28 shall replace Department 1 in Track 10 of the Criminal Caseflow Model
  • Department 4’s entire criminal docket shall be reassigned to Department 30, and Department 30 shall replace Department 4 in Track 2 of the Criminal Caseflow Model
  • Department 22’s entire criminal docket shall be reassigned to Department 15, and Department 15 shall replace Department 22 in the Rural Track of the Criminal Caseflow Model
  • Department 18’s entire criminal docket shall be reassigned to Department 29, and Department 29 shall replace Department 18 in Track 10 of the Criminal Caseflow Model
  • Department 20’s criminal cases designated as a “Homicide Crime” as defined in Administrative Order 17-05 shall be reassigned to Department 12
  • Department 23’s overflow calendar shall be reassigned to Department 10
  • North Las Vegas Justice Court 1 shall be reassigned from Track 12 to Track 2 in the Criminal Case Flow Model
  • Henderson Justice Court 3 shall be reassigned from Track 2 to Track 12 in the Criminal Caseflow Model
  • Note: A copy of the updated criminal Caseflow Model can be found as “Exhibit 1” to AO 18-04

Highlights from AO 18-05 include the following:

  • Department 1 will be randomly reassigned ½ of Department 28’s civil cases aged 36 months or less
  • Department 2 will be reassigned all municipal and eviction appeals from Department 28 and Department 32
  • Department 4 will be randomly reassigned ½ of Department 30’s civil cases aged 36 months or less
  • Department 11 will be reassigned all of Department 7’s civil cases (except for petitions for writs related to time computations of inmates), all of Department 15’s business court cases and 15 randomly selected business court cases aged 36 months or less from Department 27
  • Department 16 will be reassigned all of Department 25’s business court cases and 15 randomly selected business court cases aged 36 months or less from Department 13.
  • Department 18 will be randomly reassigned ½ of Department 29’s civil cases aged 36 months or less
  • Department 20 will be reassigned all of DC12’s civil cases
  • Department 22 will be reassigned 1/8 of Department 2’s civil cases aged 36 months or less, 1/8 of Department 2’s civil cases aged 36 months or less, 1/8 of Department 31’s civil cases aged 36 months or less, and all of Department 16’s construction defect cases
  • Department 31 will be reassigned all of Department 2’s and Department 30’s construction defect cases
