October Luncheon to Feature Nevada Court of Appeals Judges

On Thursday, October 22, 2015, the Clark County Bar Association (CCBA) will host a luncheon for members of the bar and the supporting legal community. Nevada Department of Transportation Seeks Letters of Interest from Law Firms for Eminent Domain and Inverse Condemnation Litigation Services

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is seeking letters of interest from law firms experienced in eminent domain and inverse condemnation litigation to represent NDOT in cases in Clark County. NDOT intends to create a pool of qualified attorneys from which to assign such cases. All questions in response to this solicitation shall be directed to Dennis Gallagher, Chief Deputy Attorney General, Transportation Division, at 1263 South Stewart Street, Room 315, Carson City, Nevada 89712 or faxed to (775) 888-7309 or emailed to acoffman@ag.nv.gov. To be considered for inclusion in this pool of qualified attorneys, interested firms must submit letters of interest demonstrating their experience and qualifications in the subject litigation. Resumes of each attorney applying for consideration are to be attached to the letters of interest. For those firms who previously provided their experience and qualifications to NDOT, please include in your written responses only those changes or updates to such information. Written responses will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2015, at the Nevada Department of Transportation, 1263 South Stewart Street, Room 315, Carson City, Nevada 89712. Nevada Attorney Craig Drummond to Present CLE Seminar about Representing U.S. Military Members

On Friday, September 11, 2015, from Noon to 1:00 p.m., the Clark County Bar Association (CCBA) will host a seminar for members of the bar and the supporting legal community in the classroom at the Clark County Bar Association located at 717 South 8th Street in downtown Las Vegas.

The seminar “Representing U.S. Military Members in Nevada Courts” will feature Nevada attorney Craig W. Drummond as the speaker. Attendees will get tips on how to provide legal services in cases in Nevada that involve U.S. military service members. In a information-packed presentation, Drummond will address issues related to civil and criminal law as well as provide an overview of veterans courts and the military justice system. Additionally, Drummond plans to touch on legal issues for service members that involve employment and family law matters.

Drummond practices in the areas of criminal law, civil law, personal injury, auto accident, and military defense cases. The speaker is a decorated veteran for service in Iraq where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. After law school he served on active duty as a Captain and Lawyer in the U.S. Army JAG Corps. After being honorably discharged as a JAG Corps attorney, Dummond began work in private practice in Nevada. He is a trial attorney at the Drummond Law Firm.

International Law Issue of Bar Journal to Feature International Admissions for CCBA’s Attorney Members

The “International Law” issue of Communiqué, the official publication of the Clark County Bar Association (CCBA) will feature articles about the practice of law and doing business in countries and territories outside the United States. A feature will be added to the issue that will display the names of members of the CCBA who have been admitted to practice law in another state/country/territory. “International Law” issue will be published in August 2015.

Members may also submit the name of other states to which they are admitted to practice law; however the domestic listings will not be included in the “International Law” issue of the Communiqué. Additionally, information will be used to update the attorney’s listing in the CCBA Members Directory at https://www.clarkcountybar.org/members/directory.

To benefit from this service, the member must send the following information to Communications Coordinator Steph via e-mail or fax to (702) 387-7867 by July 16, 2015 for the information (of international admissions) to be included in the “International Law” issue of the Communiqué:
