On Thursday, December 15, 2011, attorney members of the bar are invited to attend the Clark County Bar Association’s Annual Meeting and President’s Luncheon hosted by outgoing CCBA President Zachariah Larson. This special event will provide the opportunity for attorney members to cast their ballot in the election of the 2012 CCBA Executive Board—the governing body for the association. Notice of the election can be found in in the bar journal Communiqué and online at www.clarkcountybar.org.

The highlight of this event will be a presentation by Judge Nancy Allf. Judge Allf will introduce SOLACE, a new State Bar of Nevada program. SOLACE, an acronym for Support for Lawyers/Legal Personnel, All Concern Encouraged, is a voluntary listserve program that enables the legal community to reach out to legal personnel whose families have a critical need. As an example, someone in the legal community needs blood donated in their name, while someone else needs resources or methods to find “the best” pediatric neurosurgeon so that his family can obtain a second opinion. These requests are sent to SOLACE members to see if they or someone they know can help.

Judge Nancy Allf has been a member of the Nevada bar for more than 25 years.  She graduated from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University.  After graduating from law school, Judge Allf moved to Las Vegas and entered private practice.  She was appointed as a settlement judge in 1998 and held that position until 2007.  In 2005, she also was appointed to the Eighth Judicial District Court’s Short Trial Program.

Judge Allf was recognized by the Clark County Pro Bono Project for her service to the community.  She has served as the President of the Board of Directors of the Clark County Law Foundation, the Clark County Bar Association, and as President of the State Bar of Nevada.
