Attention CCBA Members: Volunteers Needed To Be Judges & Clients For The 12th Annual Client Counseling Competition Judging the competition qualifies as Pro Bono publico service (pursuant to NRPC 6.1)

WHERE: Boyd School of Law The New Lawyers Committee of the Clark County Bar Association and the William S. Boyd School of Law are proud to host the Twelfth Annual Client Counseling Competition to be held at the law school on Friday, November 12, with a pizza dinner for judges between 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and the competition taking place from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; and Saturday, November 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. An expected 80 to 90 law students will compete while local judges and attorneys act as either clients or as judges to assess their skills. The Client Counseling Competition is an opportunity for law students to test their interview skills with potentially difficult clients. The competition tests their ability to: - Establish effective relations with the client in a short interview;
- Analyze the client's problem;
- Assess relevant facts from irrelevant information;
- Learn the client's goals and expectations;
- Recognize potential moral conflicts;
- Develop alternative solutions to the client's problem;
- Assist the client in understanding and making informed choices among possible courses of action;
- Effectively conclude the interview.
